Low Volume quilt progress...

Remember this that I started at Quilt Bliss?

I am getting more work done on it!

I am getting closer. I am totally trying to channel Rita of Red Pepper Quilts. How am I doing?

I went to sew with a group set up by Marion, of  My Quilt Diet. It was a fun day meeting lots of new ladies.

Hopefully I can complete the top soon. I am sort of loving it.

Granny Squares Quilt finish....FINALLY!

Hello again, Heather here. I think I am the last person on the planet to finish a granny squares quilt. I loved them when they first came on the scene. I just had a hard time finishing. I wanted tons of variety, and I was being really selective about prints. I LOVE how it turned out. So much!

Sweet Logan from Chocolate Dipped Quilts quilted this for me. I am MORE than happy with how it turned out. I love the orange peel design she die throughout all the sashing. She made all the white really pop, and somehow the contrast is even stronger than before the quilting.

I love this quilt, and it was nice meeting Logan from Chocolate Dipped Quilts twice. She was really sweet to me, a perfect stranger, and I cried to her on the side of the freeway when we first met to swap the quilt. My Dad was in the hospital, and I was just so scared. She asked if I was off to do some Christmas shopping, when actually I was off to the hospital. I was so caught off guard I just cried to her. She gave me a really sweet hug, and words of advice. Just love this quilting community.

This photo was after the first wash and drying. When all the quilting really shows. LOVE

PS this quilt is for me. Not my children. It looks like a baby quilt, but it is mine. I love pinks, yellows and blues, and super love pastels.

A close up of the granny block. She did a large flowerish design. Really neat.

Also, I did the snuggly soft rosette minky on the back. So soft and warm. I love it so.

One of my favorite finishes to date.

Hope you like this quilt as much as I do. Thanks again Chocolate Dipped Quilts, I love this quilt, and it was nice meeting you twice. Logan was really sweet to me, a perfect stranger, and I cried to her on the side of the freeway when we first met to swap the quilt. My Dad was in the hospital, and I was just so scared. She asked if I was off to do some Christmas shopping, when actually I was off to the hospital. I was so caught off guard I just cried to her. She gave me a really sweet hug, and words of advice. Just love this quilting community.

Fabric Tuesday 14. Link up!

Hi all, Heather here. Here is a bit of what I have been up to. If you follow me on Instagram, @quiltstory you have seen these. If you don't do Instagram, start. Fun and addicting. A way to see your favorite friends and bloggers everyday lives. Photos you wouldn't necessarily break out the nice camera for. Here you go.

these last couple weeks I have been painting. Did these chevron's on my daughters wall, with my daughter. It was way too many hours of work, but we love how it is turning out. We have a few more projects planned for the room, but this was the hardest one. I also got watercolors for Christmas. I have painted with arycrilics before, but never watercolors. I have been painting in the evenings, in bed! I have been wanting to craft lately, but have been to tired (depressed about my Dad) to even sew. I have found the drawing and painting to be a perfect project for me.  The painting on the left is of Megan's Lucy, her first birthday party. Megan was happy. The one on the right is of Megan's friend's brand new baby.

Megan and I are both working on a Quilt with some of our Dads shirts and other fabrics. (I should say Megan is working, I am collecting fabric for mine) I also am rebinding a mug rug I made for my Dad a couple Christmas's ago, I will keep it with some other items of his.  And that last photo is a little pile of cute fabrics I just got today from Five Monkey Fabrics. Love them! So pretty.

Car problems and shopping!

Happy Friday friends!!! I hope your week has treated you well and that you were able to fit in some creative time :)  I did get some sewing in this week but my husbands car breaking down in the middle of the freeway sure put a damper on things. Getting the kids out of bed at 8pm and driving downtown to get him, getting everyone back in bed at 10 pm only to wake them all at 6 am to get him to work!  We came to DC to make memories so we've certainly been doing that :) But his car is fixed and we can move on...

It's the third Friday of the month and some of our favorite shops are sharing what they've got going on including sales and special coupons just for QS readers. :)  Happy shopping!!

Fabric Tuesday #173

Hello friends :)  Hope you've had a happy and productive week so far.  I was super productive this weekend and then Monday hit.  And I was the least productive I'd been in weeks.  At least I made up for it earlier right?  I've been working on more Union Jack pouches, one for another niece and one for me.  Also been working on Union Jack blocks for my own memory quilt of my dad.  I like working on it if I don't think too much :(  I have three finished blocks maybe I can share this week!

For those of you who follow me on Instagram (@quiltstorymeg) you may have seen that my very dear friend just had her third baby who quickly became seriously ill from a virus.  They were told to say goodbye to their newborn daughter :(  BUT sweet baby Kate is STILL fighting a week later. She's amazing and there have been a lot of miracles.  I made sweet Kate a quilt and name blanket. I finished up a name blanket for her sister last night. I'll share them all this week too :)  Follow my on Instagram to stay up on her story, her mom is so faithful and inspiring.

So what have you been up to???  Here are some great projects from last week, can't wait to see this weeks!

Happy Valentines Day! and a quilt bliss project...

Hi friends. Hope everyone is having a great Valentine's Day.  I intend to. This amazing mini quilt was made for me by Sarah, a sweet girl I met at Quilt Bliss (@honeyguide on Instagram). Sarah had my name in the Friendship Swap and made me this darling heart mini. LOVE.

For the swap, we listed a bit about our preferences, and she got me so well!I think this is just perfection!

Love all the low volume background too.  I will leave this up all year!

Remember this bundle?

I made these blocks using this fun and simple tutorial from Missouri Star. So easy. Looks like way more work than it was. The only reason I didn't finish was because I ran out of my solid. So now I have to match my solid and finish them off. Wonder how much time that will take?

This is more of what it will look like put together. Cuteness?

I have more to share from quilt bliss next week, my low volume quilt. I am loving it so far...

Have a fun day!
